They knew of the birth of the "King of the Jews" because they saw His star in the east. The wise men, guided by the star of unusual brightness, reached Jerusalem. Here they lost sight of their celestial guide. Not knowing where to look for the baby, they went to King Herod saying, "Where is he that is born King of the Jews?" After the wise men had left the palace of King He1·od, the star appeared again and went befo1·e them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. Thus they found the Baby Jesus. The appearance of the Christmas star as a sign of the coming of Jesus Christ had been foretold by prophets many years before. The wise men, who we1·e well versed in the language of the sta1·s and in the p1·2dictions of the prophets, waited and watched for the appearance of the star. With regard to the wonderful star, the Rev. 8dmund J. Nuttall, Chief of the Astronomical Division of the Weather Bureau has this to say, "The Star of Bethlehem is not legendar.Y. It is an established fact. The Christmas star was a miraculous phenomenon. It was seen by the Magi only, put there by God to lead the Magi to Bethlehem."
