- Abstract
- While the woman hawked her "puto", Tonio followed, but his mind was back in the little cottage. Close behind the woman, he crossed the street in front of the market. When he came to, he was in a hospital room, a nurse all in white bandaging his head. A soft hand was laid gently on his arm. "If you will go to sleep, I will go to your Lolo. I will see to it that he is taken care of". He felt a strange faith in the kind lady. After a while, the nurse came in to inform him that his Lolo had been brought to the hospital. He is in another room. He murmured a prayer of thanks to God for the accident which had brought the benevolent lady into his life. "Was not my cane lucky'!” He said to himself.
