EDITORIAL Table Of Contents A REPORT OF S·IGN~FICANCE Marsmans Return to Manila, Report Growing Interest in P. I. . . . . . . . . . . 1 The information brought from the United States by Mr. Marsman on his recent return, that there is a growing sentiment in America favoring some sort of protection for the Philippines even after 1946, is of unusual significance at this period in the progress of the Commonwealth. It indicates that the attitude of indifference with which the Philippine Islands has been regarded in the United States is being replaced by an intelligent appreciation of the situation in the Pacific. This new attitude has been long in coming, it is true, and still is not as widely spread over America as it should be-but it is still in evidence. Mr. Marsman's report was most gratifying to business and political leaders in Manila, coming as it did from a man who has covered most of the United States during the past year and who has made it a point to sound out sentiment as he travelled-and to express vigorously the sentiments of the leaders of the Commonwealth. The comment expressed in the "Philippines Herald" (which appears elsewhere in this issue) is a concrete example of the reception of Mr. Marsman's report.
