WITH THE MARSMAN MEN Two newcomers to the Philippines and the Marsman Staff are Edwin J. Carlson and L. E. Caldwell. Mr. Carlson is now at Suyoc as a mine shifter. His home is in Astoria, Oregon, and he is a graduate of Oregon State College. Six years of mine experience were gained by Mr. Carlson at the Braden Copper Mines in Rancogua, Chile. In addition, he has spent considerable time with the Hecla Mines in Northern Idaho and Western United States. Mr. Caldwell is at United Paracale as a mil1 shifter. His home is Ohio. Barr, graduate of Kemper Military School, who has now begun training in the United States with Goodman Mfg. Co., in Chicago. He is later to train with Cleveland Tractor Co., Cleveland; the Cameron Pump Division of Ingersoll-Rand Co., New York; and Eimco Corp., Salt Lake City, preparatory to his return to the Philippines to join l\farsman Trading Corporation. Flying is one of Mr. Caldwell's particular interests, and he is a licensed pilot. Russell Slater, who has also gone to United Paracale, is not a newcomer to the Philippines since he formerly spent several' years at Big Wedge. He is now here in the capacity of mill shifter. Mr. Slater is a graduate of the Univ16 TUBA OPENS RECREATION HALL On July 4th, Tuba Mines held a double celebration, for the day itself, and for the opening of the new Rec~eation Hall. A sixteen piece band from Ligao played the entire day and until late hours o~ the night. Boxing, basketball, and volleyball were included in the day's fun, with opposing teams coming from the neighboring lumber camps. Fireworks, including two large balloons started the evening off properly. The Recreation Hall measures 28 by 60 feet.
